Carl, transformed into an alien during an asteroid mission, hid his face due to self-consciousness. Spotting a woman being robbed, he pursued the thief. Though he missed his crystal throw, a chain reaction occurred: his antenna glowed, the crystal rebounded, knocking out the robber, and the purse flew to Carl. The woman, instead of reacting to his appearance, thanked him and advised him not to worry about others' opinions. From then on, Carl embraced his look, using his rock telepathy to aid citizens, and became known as 'The Alien', a local hero.
