Product Description Installing threaded inserts in hardwoods like maple, white oak, or cherry, has always required experimentation to determine just the right pilot hole size to avoid folding over the external threads. The special threads on these solid steel inserts have a beefy cross section designed for use in hardwoods. Just drill the prescribed pilot hole and with rare exception, the insert will screw right in. Drive these with a metric sized hex wrench, or the appropriately sized driver to install.
