In late 1922, Mayakovsky was to arrive in Berlin by plane. Just like him—Mayakovsky always chose the latest mode of transportation. Upon meeting, the poet revealed a publishing plan that was to be released by the State Publishing House. At the time, the State Publishing House in Moscow also had an office in Berlin. He explained that I, as an illustrator, would be in charge of the book's design, he would be the author, and Lilya Brik would be the editor.
We selected 13 poems. It is a book for reading aloud. We came up with a nail-hook index method (alphabetical) so that the desired work could be found immediately. Our Mayakovsky also agreed.
