NVA (National People's Army) Mess Kit
Some people confuse it with the M31 (German Army mess kit), but this item is the original NVA mess kit with a holding-type handle on the insert.
The strap loops are only on the flanges on both sides of the handle version.
It is not easy to obtain the M31 from before the 1960s in a deadstock condition, but the NVA mess kit is even more difficult to obtain.
